What makes the TMA Australia great?

TMA Australia brings together a group of sophisticated organisations and individuals that are committed to corporate renewal and the turnaround of businesses. It is this common mindset and the collaborative approach of the individual members that makes TMA Australia great. It really is an organisation run by the members, for the benefit of the members and the broader business community.

Why or how did you get involved in TMA?

I see the TMA as an organisation that has a focus on sharing concepts and ideas to promote positive outcomes for businesses. This solution focussed mindset is appealing to me, as well as the global reach of the TMA. Ferrier Hodgson recently had the opportunity to send one of our next generation of leaders to Chicago for a global TMA NextGen leadership conference, which was a great opportunity to learn from international experiences, build global relationships and connect with TMA chapters throughout the world.

What’s the most significant trend or event happening in the turnaround and restructuring industry?

With the continued activity of hedge funds and other alternate investors open to providing capital to enable turnaround and restructuring solutions, I expect we will see the opportunity for creative restructurings over the coming years. The restructuring outcomes of BIS Industries and Emeco are some recent examples of this trend.

What would someone who only knows you professionally be surprised to learn about you?

Despite being tone deaf and unable to accurately remember the lyrics to most songs, I like to start my work day by singing a few lines of a classic rock ballad at my desk while my computer starts up. I’m not convinced my work colleagues appreciate my singing prowess……
