TMA Australia has been raising funds for Special Olympics Australia for over 6 years hosting Sports Lunches and Corporate Golf Days around Australia.
The TMA lunches have become an iconic charity event, each year over 1000 leading professionals and business leaders, many of them TMA members come together at these lunches to celebrate the sporting achievements of people with an intellectual disability. Lunches are held in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
Special Olympics transforms the lives of children and adults with an intellectual disability through year-round sports participation, training and competition in local communities.
Unlike the Olympics or Paralympics, Special Olympics focuses on people with an intellectual disability, providing them with sports opportunities, regardless of their skill level. Special Olympics welcomes all athletes, no matter whether they want to play at a local level or compete on the world stage, and they offer a variety of individual and team sports including soccer, swimming, athletics, basketball and tennis.
Through a safe and supportive sports and social environment, Special Olympics helps people with an intellectual disability improve their lives and the lives of their families. Special Olympics is a place where athletes can be accepted, have fun, make friends, get active and feel confident. That helps them achieve their very best both on and off the sporting field.
