TO THE MEMBERS OF TMA AUSTRALIA
By Schon Condon, Mr
Feb 10, 2007 (Australia)
2006 ended with a bang when it was revealed that the Australian Chapter had been awarded the honour of being "TMA's Most Improved Chapter of the Year", an award that is highly sought after and treasured. It is an achievement that all members of TMA Australia should be justly proud. I would like to personally and publicly thank all the members of the Committee and the associated Sub-Committees for their efforts in this wonderful achievement. It would also be a prudent time to acknowledge the efforts of the preceding Presidents, Alison Ogilvy-Lee, Nick Samios and Riad Tayeh for their respective contributions in getting the organisation to where it is today.
We are well poised for steady and sustainable growth into the future. We now have four active States in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia who are all at varying stages of developing local technical and social programmes for not only their respective resident members but also for any of our other members who may be "in town" at the time. These functions are regularly updated onto our website and I would recommend frequent visits to ensure that you remain up to date. Input from members is always valued and any contribution that you may wish to make regarding topics, venues or even agendas for these events will be most welcome.
2007 will see us again conducting our very successful Turnaround Conference in November, our Fourth in fact. Last year we welcomed our first overseas attendees to the Conference, in particular Mr Bill Skelly fromCanada, Chairman of TMA's International Committee. Also programmed for 2007 will be the Annual "Charity Lunch" which will again assist in raising much needed funds for the Special Olympics and will also occur in both Melbourne and Brisbane as well. This event proved particularly popular in 2006 and raised in excess of $100,000 for this very worthy Charity.
One of the watershed points for 2007 will be the establishing of a new Constitution for the Australian organisation that will not only bring us up to date with international changes but also provide a more stringent and practical foundation for our growth.
Our first key event for the year will be the ANZ "Great Debate" that will look into a fairly significant aspect of successful turnaround dealing with relationships between strategists and security holders, one the I'm sure will generate much interest and possibly ongoing debate.
The year will be a busy year that will provide both interest and enjoyment, and will be focussed on positioning for sustainable growth and recognition.
There will be much more to come and I implore you all too regularly visit the website, attend as many functions as possible and enjoy the year.
Please feel free to contact either myself or the TMA Committee at any time and rest assure your thoughts, contributions and efforts are always welcome.
I look forward to seeing you all throughout the year.
Yours sincerely
Schon G. Condon RFD
President
