Andrew Birch is a business consultant with 20 years' experience in successfully managing troubled businesses. He has spearheaded change initiatives, led full-scale restructuring plans and turnaround efforts, overseen sale negotiations, and delivered best-practice corporate governance and risk management solutions to listed and unlisted companies.
Now based in Perth, Western Australia, Andrew specialises in helping businesses facing critical, challenging and unusual situations. He applies deep financial skills, risk analysis and commercial common sense to design creative strategies and implement practical solutions to help clients achieve their goals.
Andrew enjoys helping clients develop their strategy and business plans, believing that clear strategies and organisational alignment are fundamental for longer-term viability. He has experience in commercial and not-for-profit sectors, focusing on strategy, governance and operational performance.
Phil practises in the area of commercial litigation and specialises in the area of turnaround and insolvency law. He advises insolvency practitioners, banks, creditors, purchasers of distressed assets and borrowers in relation to their rights and obligations where an entity is in financial difficulty. Clients benefit from his knowledge of corporate reconstructions and the various insolvency regimes including administrations, receiverships and liquidations. Phil also advises clients in the resolution of complex commercial disputes.
Phil is also a member of the Western Australian Division of the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

David Gilbert

David Gilbert is a career banker, who has worked for the Commonwealth bank since 1982. David has worked in a variety of roles including; Investigating Accountant at the Development Bank, Relationship Manager, Credit Approvals, and as a manager at Credit Management Unit. At Credit Management, David has worked on a number of high profile Administrations, together with formulating risk improvement strategies and working closely with customers to improve their risk profiles.
David is currently working in the Bank’s Corporate Financial Services Section in Perth, and his role includes the structuring of complex loan facilities. David is also a CPA.

David is a senior member of the national Litigation team and practises in the area of commercial litigation dealing with contractual disputes, restitution, security and financing law, breaches of directors’ duties and other actions and questions arising out of breaches of the Corporations Act including issues about managed investment schemes and responsible entities.
David has a specialty in the area of banking and insolvency law, which involves recovery work and advising insolvency practitioners, banks, creditors (both secured and unsecured) and debtors in relation to their rights and obligations in the various insolvency regimes including administrations, receiverships and liquidations.

Lui Pangiarella

Lui is an experienced facilitator and executive coach particularly in the areas of organisational performance, strategy, culture and leadership development.
He has over 15 years of experience in the areas of mergers, acquisitions and integrations, project management and senior finance roles within the Wesfarmers Group of companies and later as a Consultant to various organisations. Lui’s experience spans a broad range of industries including hardware retail, transport and logistics, fertiliser and chemicals manufacturing and distribution, heavy construction and insurance.
Lui is a Member the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Chartered Accountant. Lui currently holds non-executive chairman and director roles with Worldwide Online Printing (Franchisor) and the Future Living Trust respectively.

Matthew joined KPMG in March 2009. Matthew has over 16 years specialising in advising companies, directors, providers of debt and equity and other stakeholders on distressed businesses, assets and special situations. Prior to joining KPMG Matthew was the Managing Director of a boutique corporate consulting and investment company that consulted to and invested in distressed large private and small capped public companies. Prior to that, Matthew was a partner in a mid tier National Accounting Firm, specialising in Corporate Recovery and Formal Insolvency appointments.
