TMA NOW Scholarship Application

TMA Australia is delighted to offer the Houlihan Lokey - TMA Australia Network of Women (NOW) Scholarship Program for the third year.

TMA NOW passionately champions the participation of women in turnaround and restructuring and promotes their professional growth. Made possible by generous sponsorship from Houlihan Lokey, the scholarship program offers unique leadership and learning opportunities for women.

Key features of the Houlihan Lokey NOW sponsorship are:

Under the Houlihan Lokey Sponsorship, there are two (2) National Scholarships available for FY26 to attend the annual TMA Australia National Conference to be held at 1 Hotel in Melbourne on 22 and 23 October 2025.

Eligibility, Requirements for Applicants and General Guidelines

The National Scholarships are open to "emerging women" working in turnaround and restructuring, being women TMA Australia members who are below partner level (or the equivalent in their organisation) at the time of application.

We are seeking turnaround and restructuring professionals who are passionate about turnaround and restructuring, engaged with the TMA and looking to enhance their career in turnaround and restructuring and their leadership skills.

Applicants must be available to attend the TMA Australia Conference & Gala Dinner in Melbourne on 22 and 23 October 2025 at 1 Hotel Melbourne.

Terms and Conditions


In these Terms:

Conference is a reference to the TMA Australia Conference & Gala Dinner to be held in Melbourne on 22 and 23 October 2025 at 1 Hotel Melbourne. (including the Bootcamp, NOW Lunch and Gala Dinner)

National Scholarship means the capacity to attend the Conference paid for and facilitated by TMA, subject to these Terms

TMA means Turnaround Management Association Australia Limited ACN 107 241 798

  1. The National Scholarship is open to emerging women, being women who are below partner level (or equivalent within their organisation) at the time of application.
  2. Applicants must be TMA members at the time of application.
  3. Applicants must be engaged in work which is directly related to turnaround and restructuring at the time of application.
  4. Applicants must be able to attend the Conference, including that:
    1. they have made, or reasonably believe that they will be in a position to make within 5 business days if they are selected, appropriate arrangements with their employer to attend; and
    2. they must be available to attend the Conference for the full two days in Melbourne, if they are selected.
  1. Two National Scholarships will be awarded for attendance by the successful Applicants at the Conference.
  2. The National Scholarship will cover, for the successful Applicants:
    1. registration to attend the Conference (which includes attendance at the Bootcamp, all official social events (NOW Lunch, Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner) as well as other meals included in the Conference registration)
    2. accommodation at 1 Hotel Melbourne for 3 nights including breakfast.
    3. economy flights from the capital city in Australia in which the Applicant is usually resident (or the closest capital city to their usual residence) to Melbourne
    4. cabs/transfers to and from airports.
    The National Scholarship does not include travel insurance.
  3. The National Scholarship cannot be redeemed for cash nor will cash reimbursement be provided by TMA (other than in respect of reasonable expenses incurred for cabs/transfers to and from airports for which reimbursement will be made upon production of the relevant tax invoice). Applicants will need to meet any expenses not expressly covered.
  4. The successful Applicants must, within no more than 5 business days of being notified that they have been awarded the National Scholarship confirm that:
    1. they have made appropriate arrangements with their employer to enable them to be present at the Conference;
    2. they have arranged their own travel insurance;
    and, provide evidence of the above to TMA.
  5. The TMA will, in consultation with the successful Applicants, organise all flights, registration and accommodation: these are not to be organised by the successful Applicant.
  1. Applications are due by 5pm on Monday, 22 September 2025 and are to be submitted in the form on this page.
  2. Applications must be in the prescribed form (above) and signed by the Applicant and a Referee (being someone known to the Applicant who can vouch for them and their experience). The TMA reserves the right to reject any non-complying applications.
  3. The TMA reserves the right to contact Referees but is not obliged to do so.
  4. Assessment of applications and selection of the National Scholarship winners will be by a selection committee (the Selection Committee) consisting of the TMA President, the head of the TMA NOW initiative and a nominee of Houlihan Lokey, and on the basis of the Applications submitted in writing in accordance with these Terms.
  5. Selection will be based on an assessment of Applicants’ relevant work experience in turnaround and restructuring, current and anticipated future involvement in the TMA and the benefit of the National Scholarship to Applicants’ career and leadership aspirations, based on the content of the application.
  6. There will be no right to make any additional submission (including in person, by audio-visual link or verbally) to the Selection Committee.
  7. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and there will be no right of appeal. No correspondence will be entered into and no feedback will be given to Applicants.
  1. The National Scholarship is not transferrable, cannot be redeemed for cash and can only be taken up by the successful Applicants to attend the Conference. A successful Applicant is not entitled to sell, donate or otherwise deal with the National Scholarship once awarded, or to take the National Scholarship to attend any other TMA Conferences, or to attend the TMA Australia Conference & Gala Dinner in another year.
  2. If the successful Applicant becomes aware after the National Scholarship is awarded that they cannot attend, or may not be able to attend, the Conference for any reason, they must immediately notify Allison Robinson at the TMA and the Selection Committee will consider, in its absolute discretion, whether to re-award the International Scholarship or to permit the Applicant to use the National Scholarship for another TMA Australia conference or event instead (on such terms as the TMA may prescribe in writing in its absolute discretion).
  3. The successful Applicant agrees to the content of the application and to their image and details being published by the TMA and Houlihan Lokey in relation to the National Scholarship and the promotion of the TMA's NOW initiative, and to promote the National Scholarship as reasonably requested by TMA including by the submission of a report of their attendance at the Conference by not later than a month after the conclusion of the conference for publication by the TMA.
  4. The successful Applicant must not bring the TMA or Houlihan Lokey into disrepute.
  5. The TMA does not warrant or represent that the content of the Conference will provide any particular CPD, MCLE or equivalent professional training certifications, or specific networking or other opportunities, and Applicants should make their own enquiries.
  6. The awarding of the National Scholarship does not constitute an offer of employment, and no employment relationship will arise between the TMA or Houlihan Lokey and the successful Applicant.
  7. The TMA will not, to the extent permitted by law, be liable for any taxation liabilities arising for the successful Applicant or their employer from the award of a National Scholarship and Applicants should make their own enquiries.
  8. To the extent permitted by law, in submitting their application the Applicants agree that they release the TMA and Houlihan Lokey from, and agree not to sue TMA or Houlihan Lokey in respect of, any claims of any kind (whether known or unknown, future or contingent, liquidated or unliquidated) arising from or in any way related to their application and the National Scholarship.
  9. The TMA reserves the right to amend these Terms in its absolute discretion, including dates specified, and reserves the right to award no National Scholarship.
  10. These terms are governed by the law in New South Wales.
